The Orange Lip

Mac - So Chaud, Urban Decay Revolution - Bang, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - Peach Club, Nars Satin Lip Pencil - Timanfaya

I used to wear red lipstick as a staple but lately I've been branching out into oranges and purples. I think Orange lips are perfect for the warmer seasons and really pop against pale skin. I wear it with simple black eyeliner, mascara and a bit of contour on the cheeks.
Here are some of my favourites.

L-R Bourjois Peach Club, Nars Timanfaya, Mac So Chaud, Urban Decay Bang

Urban Decay Revolution: Bang

Firstly, Urban Decay Bang. Its a vibrant orange-red. The Urban Decay Revolution lipstick formula is one of my favourites for being long wearing without being drying. It feels creamy and lightweight on the lips, so much so that you can forget you're wearing it until you look in a mirror and see that it hasn't budged. I find the colour range in these lipsticks to lean very pink, there aren't a lot of options for a nude beige or peach but Bang is a must have.

Nars Satin Lip Pencil: Timanfaya

This is my first Nars Satin Lip Pencil, Id tried the matte formula and was impressed with how lightweight it was and when I saw Timanfaya as part of the new spring collection I couldn't resist. It leans more of a true orange than the other three options listed here and has a golden shimmer running through it. Its so vibrant I absolutely love it. I wore it all day with a couple of touch ups and was really impressed with the staying power.

Mac: So Chaud

Mac So Chaud is one of Macs matte lipsticks. Like Bang, its a red-orange and the two are very similar. I love the matte finish of this Mac lipstick although I wouldn't wear it for a long day as I find it can be drying. Between this and Urban Decay Bang Id say you don't need both, so go for Bang as its more moisturising on the lips with the same staying power.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet: Peach Club

Lastly, Bourjois Peach Club, this is meant to be a peach colour and its actually one of the nude colours in the range but I find it leans orange on my skin tone and its more bold than I expected. The Rouge Edition Velvet range is one I was hesitant over, as at £8.99 I think its pretty pricey for a high street brand, however formula is incredible. Its one of the mist lightweight lipsticks I've tried and it stains the lips so well that only makeup remover will take it off. This one stays put all day. It reminds me of the Hourglass liquid lipsticks only you can layer this and touch it up if you need to (which you won't).

Do you love an orange lip? What are your faves?

The Repurchases

Im a big fan of trying new products, I'm a sucker for reading a blog and deciding I have to have the product I'm reading about immediately. Next day delivery is my best friend.

Thats how I know which products I really can't live with out, these are some of the few items Ive repurchased.

First up, Nars Smudge Proof eyeshadow base. Im oily skinned, lids included, and other primers i've tried just haven't cut if for me. Im not saying this one is perfect, but I can wear eyeshadow for a 10 hour day at work and it still looks reasonable at the end of the day with minor creasing. Ive tried Urban Decays Primer Potion in the past and the Lorac Behind The Scenes eye primer and neither came close to this Nars one. I find a tiny bit goes along way and even though I'm using it every day this tube lasts me around 6 months. Not bad for £19.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is another must have for me. I have this in two Shades: Chantilly and Vanilla. I find this Concealer to be the most versatile and it has a texture suitable for both blemishes and under the eyes, I have dark circles and fine lines under my eyes and this is one of the few concealers I've tried that doesn't settle into lines. Its lasts all day on blemishes, and the colour range is pretty impressive. I struggle to find a concealer thats light enough to match my skin tone and this fits the bill perfectly. Swatches below.

Top: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer: Vanilla
Bottom: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer: Chantilly

Pressed powder is an essential for me. I do a lot of touching up my makeup throughout the day because i struggle with oil control. A lot of powders Ive tried tend to look cake as I powder my nose throughout the day but the Nars Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder gives the lightest dusting of powder its practically invisible but it mattifies the skin perfectly. I realise this post is becoming an ode to Nars but thats the last!

A skincare essential for me is hydraluron, I find this really makes my moisturiser sink into my skin so that when I apply my makeup I have a really hydrated but matte base.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye and Lip Makeup Remover is just such an affordable and effective product. Just shake it up, add to a cotton pad and it melts away eye makeup quickly and without tugging. I wear waterproof mascara and long wear eyeliners and this is far more effective than the micellar waters I've tried. I also find its non greasy, which is an issue I had with the Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover.

There are a lot of products Ive tried and loved but these are the real standouts, the fact I have duplicates of all of them is a little ridiculous but Id hate to be without them!
